I bought this book, hoping it would help me with dinner planning. I have 3 children under 8 years old, and my mother lives with us. I was having a heck-of-a-time figuring out what to cook to make everybody happy, what to buy at the grocery store, ending up eating out way too much. Now I shop on Sunday afternoons, with the handy-dandy shopping list. Each day I look at the day's menu, seeing what I might have to prepare beforehand. Sometimes, you may have a crockpot meal so you need to start that in the morning. Otherwise, around 4 or 5, I start preparing the meal. The recipes are all on two facing pages, the order in which to prepare the recipes is also included, which really helps me with timing. We are eating such a variety of foods now, and a lot more veggies and fruits, which everybody needs! Not everybody in my family likes everything, but I figure as the kids get older, they will start trying more stuff. I didn't like to use any convenience foods before, but I trade off the cost/health factor because we aren't eating out as much. There is sometimes quite a bit of chopping. The whole meal is supposed to take under an hour to prepare, but I think if you have a lot of chopping, it might take longer. That is my only criticism of this otherwise wonderful cookbook. We have used it for 3 months now. We cook our old standby's on the weekend and eat out once a week now. I have served several meals to company and have gotten rave reviews! I should also mention I tried once-a-month cooking in several forms and that did not work at all. We needed more variety, more fresh things, better-rounded meals. This book solved all of my dinner problems! Now if it could just do laundry, my life would be perfect!

A Dinner A Day looks like a cookbook for beginners, but it actually has some great recipes even for more experienced cooks. Written by two working moms, the book lays out the weekday meals in menus and provides a weekly shopping list, equipment and utensils needed to prep and cook, and the order in which the meal should be prepared. The meals take from 30-60 minutes to make. My family likes the meals, which are generally healthier than average. There are many recipes featuring fish, chicken, and meatless entrees, plus some for meats such as pork, beef and lamb. The emphasis is on using fresh ingredients as much as possible, which saves money and reduces sodium and chemical additives in the diet. Recipes are for four servings---usually generous ones---and are easy to halve again or double for larger groups. I highly recommend this cookbook as both a money and a time saver for busy cooks. It would also make a great gift for someone just learning to plan and fix meals, as it covers every step involved and helps teach good nutrition.

LOVE this cookbook. I had it years ago when my kids were in middle and high school. Colorful dishes, great meal plans so all is done in one hour, convenient shopping list, organized by season for fresh ingredients. I wish I had involved the kids more in cooking with it because it’s really a fun experience.

Lent my original copy to a friend who moved away shortly afterwards. Love it so much, I had to get another copy! The desserts are for the birds, but the cooking techniques and flavor combos are terrific.

Enjoying item. I found it odd that this title has no table of contents. I was surprised that there is a dessert for ever meal and NO vegetable suggestions. I realize the book is an older copyright, but does not promote a healthy lifestyle.

Just not the type of things we eat and too much seafood and fish which we rarely eat.

My mother used to create meals from this cookbook when I was in jr. high. During multiple moves, it got lost so I bought her the ebook for Xmas. Unfortunately, the ebook is hard to navigate and doesn't seem to be consistent in its page turning. It also lacks an index at the back of the book which was a great tool in the hard copy. All in all, I love the meals but I'm disappointed with the kindle version.

About the Author

This book is amazing! Prior to reading this book, and I read it cover to cover, I was completely unfamiliar with Omani cuisine. The recipes are fascinating and wonderful. The book boasts easy to follow recipes, lovely photos, and a fascinating look into Omani life. The author has included a clear introduction to the ingredients (some of which are definitely not things you'll have in your pantry, at least not until after you read this book!). And because certain ingredients may be difficult to find, she provides suggestions for substitutions.Omani food is unique, and the books includes recipes that I have never seen before. Many of the recipes I would consider to be comfort foods. I recently had back surgery, and I made several of these recipes (Arseeyah - Savory Chicken and rice porridge (it's cooked so long that the chicken almost melts into the rice); Omani lentil soup; and Dango - Chile-Lime chickpeas) and froze them to eat during my recovery. If you make only one thing out of this book (and I don't recommend that; you should try to make everything) make the chile-lime chickpeas. It's a simple recipe (though you do start with dried chickpeas, so the soaking/cooking time is quite long, but it is so worth it! Healthy, soothing, and flavorful.Not only is this a cookbook, it is a look at Oman. The author writes lovely vignettes highlighting aspects of the culture and what it means to be Omani and includes many photographs, not only of the food but of the people I learned a lot about a culture that I had never really never crossed my mind before. If you are looking for a cookbook that is unique and usable, this is the book for you. And stock up on black limes...you'll need them!

This is a work of the heart, as much or more than anything else. I’m a trained Chef, with broad curiosity for world cuisine, but I must admit I knew zip about Omani cooking, until a Tony Bourdain episode clued me in. I immediately went looking for cookbooks, and found this. What this is, is a labor of love, by a young writer able, willing, and bold enough to wade into something that is far from easy. As the Author relates, there was and are very few resources for those interested in Omani cuisine, and none in English before this wonderful book was published. This cuisine, and culture, is far more diverse and dynamic than most of us realize. Through love, genuine fascination, patience, and persistence, Felicia Campbell came up with this gem of a book. The recipes are genuine and truly delightful, but equally as important are the stories of the connections and passions that lead her here. Buy it, cook it, share it - She deserves that.

Our family is from Zanzibar, which was ruled by an Omani sultan for many years. This book very accurately reflects our cuisine - which is a fusion of Gulf Arab, Indian, Persian, and African flavors. I especially love how the author stayed authentic to the original recipes, not simplifying them for foreign audiences. The book is beautifully done, with lovely stories and anecdotes that truly reflect the uniqueness of Oman. I am an avid cook and own over 50 cookbooks, but this is by far my favorite. I've tried a few recipes already and they each came out perfectly. Really really thrilled to see such a wonderful book with such authentic recipes.

SO exciting to read this book! A wonderful catalog of a cuisine I've never previously been able to find out much about, with great detail and photos. I definitely appreciate that the Arabic names of dishes are all there (in transliteration; it would be nice to have Arabic script as well, but I know the typesetting is a nightmare), as this is something cookbooks often skip when trying to "introduce" a foreign cuisine to English readers.I also appreciate how she will often say what's considered traditional and if/when she has tweaked a recipe to be lighter or easier to cook, or whatever the case may be. When I'm learning about a new cuisine, I always want to know what the "standard" rendition is, even I might not cook it, and this book seems to do that.

Tells a good story of Oman while also giving you some amazing recipes. The author really goes in depth and made me feel like I was back there visiting old friends, and experiencing it all over again. This book shows more about Oman than just food, and that is what makes the country come alive. For a country based around hospitality, the food scene is amazing, and this book captures it all. I would highly recommend it.

Absolutely great cookbook! If you love Middle Eastern food, this is a must to have.

I am thankful to the people who bring us recipes from other parts of the world and help us to experience this food in our kitchens. The story of the women who wrote this cook book is very interesting too. The recipes are very good.

An interesting book written about an extraordinary man. Guy is certainly, as the Brits call it, a "one off", which in English means they broke the mold when they made him. A genuinely nice man, with simple tastes and an incredible desire to compete and win. If he lived 1,000 years ago, he'd have been a knight, always looking for the next test of strength and endurance. If you are a dedicated fan, or like me, one who was starting an interest in his incredible feats of endurance and skill, then this is the book for you. It's a book in which he opens his heart and discusses his life, good and bad.

As a fan I loved it; as a motorcyclist, I thought too much info (the TV/personal sections.) I guess you should expect that as it's an autobiography. I'll have no trouble giving it to another rider/riding partner who will love it too. :)

Guy Martin pulls no punches, he says what he thinks, but I don't see him as arrogant.I'm not a biker, yet I thoroughly enjoyed this look at the mindset of one.There's a lot of humour in the book, and there's a lot of candour.Very enjoyable read.

Its a fun book to read! Very exciting.

What a character! Well done. Kept me turning the pages. He's not afraid to expose his own faults, and certainly does not pontificate on his strengths. I will be buying his next book!

I really enjoyed this book. Steph Curry is one of my favorite basketball players so getting to learn more about him from somewhere other than Wikipedia or ESPN was a nice change. I really liked how the book was laid out, it explained Curry's playing strategies and how he developed them in a clear, simple manner, and told the story of his life alongside of those strategies. There were several video links throughout the book, mostly to interviews and footage of Steph playing, and those really added to the entertainment factor of the book and it gave me a nice break from reading the text. The book itself is pretty short, so I was able to finish it in a few hours. The writer writes in a way that makes the book easy to read; the sentences aren't too long but they aren't too short either. It was really inspiring to read Curry's story, how he went from being a scrawny kid to a talented basketball player. Seeing Curry's increasing success due to his diligence and determination, it has inspired me to work harder at my own profession in hopes that I can make it on a big scale level.I would definitely recommend this book to any fans of Steph Curry, basketball fans in general, or really just anyone who wants to read an inspirational biography. I actually did end up recommending the book to my brother who loves Steph Curry, and he's interested in it!

I think this book did an amazing job at telling all their is to know about Stephen Curry. When I first opened the book, I was just skimming through it to see what types of things were in it and was planning on fully reading it later, but I ended up reading the whole book instead of skimming. It's structured perfectly and I don't even know what part I can say is the most entertaining or most informative because every part of the book is great. The videos that are included with the drills, the storytelling of some of Steph's games, the consistent comments about his weight and how he made progress with it, this is a pretty good book & I learned a lot about Stephen Curry. I highly recommend this book if you're a Stephen Curry fan or even if you're not.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Stephen Curry: A Sharpshooter's Journey To The NBA & Beyond. I have loved basketball since I was a child, I love playing it and I love watching it! I recognized the name Stephen Curry, but I did not know anything about him, that is why I decided to check this one out.Not only does this book share Steph's journey, there is a chapter devoted to shooting drills and exercises, and a chapter about motivational lessons. I can relate to the necessity of motivation in my life, because I had a difficult childhood. But the best chapter in this book was chapter 4 about Family & Faith. I am a very spiritual person who devoted my life to Jesus at the age of 20. I was so happy to read about his relationship with his family and God.Overall, this book is wonderful! I highly recommend it for anyone!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Steve James' account of Stephen Curry's rise to being one of the best players in the NBA. The book outlines how his shooting technique was developed, his early life, and workout regimen which is something I have been wanting to know for a while. I love Steph Curry and felt like I knew him a lot better after reading this. Good read, highly recommended.

This book was really, really good. Steph Curry has long been my NBA idol. Coming up the way he did, and fighting through the adversity on and off the court, yet still maintaining his unselfishness truly inspires me.The book was beautifully written, no grammatical errors and everything flows nicely. Made for a nice little read. :)P.S. On a personal note, I found that his faith as a Christian to be perhaps the most inspiring thing about his life.

As of late I have become a bit fascinated with the lives of today’s superstar athletes. I read a book not too long ago about Kobe and enjoyed it, and a few days ago I found this one and figured I’d give it a look through. (It was free, why not?) And I’ve got to say, despite the few grammatical and punctuation errors, this book was a pretty interesting read, easy to get through, and gave some serious insight into Curry’s life. It had me wondering where people find this much information on a person. The author obviously pulled from multiple sources when writing this book, and in my opinion it paid off.There’s a lot of emphasis on his workouts and drills in this book and almost reads as a ‘how to be Steph Curry’ book. I thought it did a good job of breaking down his formative years in basketball to the most current season, and I also liked the video sources embedded throughout, although I could do without some of the pictures. I felt that some were cheesy and/or unnecessary/ out of place, but that could just be personal taste.I also want to say that I wish the family section was beefed up a bit. You can tell from post interviews to social media that he is a very family-oriented man, and I think it helps us relate better to our heroes (to some people, I’m sure he is a hero) when we see them as more than a little man running back and forth on the TV screen.Highly recommend.

This book on the numerology of the I Ching, a subject of that I am also expert and book author, however in Portuguese, is very well illustrated, ample and medianly deep.But the author makes some adaptations that run away to the thought oriental (Chinese) in its origin, therefore the numerology of the I Ching is based on number 8 while the one that it displays in this book is based on number 9.However this does not compromise the quality of the book and its importance as form of making familiar themselves and going deep the subject. Very good! I really recommend this book.

I've been interested in the I ching since the 70's and I love the way this book presents the I ching. Easy to read and understand.

A sort of fortune teller's I Ching, this book is based on the very effective Plum Blossom method of Shao Yong, the Sung dynasty philosopher. The book is a typical Lillian Too visual production, not entirely to my taste, but it has interesting information some of which is original. There are other books on the Plum Blossom method and fortune teller's I Ching that compare favorably with this one, especially The Tao of I Ching by Jou Tsung Hwa, and the now out of print books by W.K.Chu and W.A.Sherrill, Anthology of I Ching and The Astrology of I Ching. There is another book that contains an effective I Ching predictive method based on Chinese astrology, Feng Shui Strategies for Business Success. Be all that as it may, this book is well worth purchasing by anyone interested in the many possibilities of working with the I Ching. I would give it 5 Stars except I don't like the pictures, sorry.

It reads in the normal american book direction, not "backwards" like real manga. Otherwise it is good book, classic story.

OK ... considering I never expected to see "Shakespeare" and "Manga" in the same sentence, it was a pleasant surprise when I plugged the terms in for a gift search and ... voila! It exists!Good concept. Delivered on time, early actually, and in the promised condition.Thank you!

My daughter loves Hamlet. She has read the standard book version and seen the movie. Magna is another great way to experience a classic Shakespeare Tragedy.

In theory, the idea of paring illustrations with Shakespeare's text makes sense: his words were, after all, meant to be watched rather than simply read; but this is not the way to do it. Artists like Hayao Miyazaki have demonstrated that Manga has the potential to be a more serious art form than many assume, but projects like this give pause: the juxtaposition of Shakespeare's rich and vibrant language with utterly flat and lifeless illustrations is unsettling, and makes one wonder if there might be inherent limitations to what can be done with the medium.

Then it is discovered that the King was murdered by his own brother for his wife. Hamlet now has gone mad with revenge and wants nothing more then to seek revenge for his father's untimely death. Hamlet undergoes many changes and pushes away his love, Ophelia, and sets to work on presenting a play similar to his father's death to see his uncle's reaction. As the story unfolds there are certainly more deaths and the return of loved ones to seek justice for those that were slain, and a brutal end for all those involved.Although I have not read the original Hamlet, I decided to read this, and I am glad that I did.This uses original writings from Shakespeare paired with beautiful illustrations. I enjoyed reading this very much. I found it quite easy to follow and it was paired nicely with the correct drawings. I found this book to have everything storyline-wise. There was mystery, murder, romance, and action. I believe it did Shakespeare justice. I am going to have to read the actual book now to see how it compares, but I believe that it will be very close. I highly recommend that everyone read "Hamlet: Manga Shakespeare," whether they have read the actual book or not. For those that didn't follow on certain things, there is also a plot summary at the back of the book, along with a brief summary of Shakespeare's life.Book received free of charge.
