I bought this book for my son, since he loves to cook over an open fire with his dutch oven. This is not the book for that. Also, someone did not do a very good job of proof reading. The jalapeno break steps are under the cinnamon bun recipe. Very disappointed. I will have to find a different book by a different publisher to meet his wants.

I love my Dutch oven because it makes cooking inside or out so easy and delicious. Now they make dutch ovens so many ways but I still love my cast iron one.and the recipes found in this cookbook come out so delicious. I love the Smokey barbecue beans. Thank you and enjoy your day.

Either the recipes are OVER the top (complicated) or so simple, they didn't sound good. Wish I hadn't purchased this book.

This is not the book I thought it was for the style of Dutch oven cooking I do....not Amazon's fault....either way there are plenty of great recipes to try and enjoy. Still a great informative book on Dutch oven cooking.

These recipes are for the stove-top and not camping.

Recipes are not written for campfire dutch oven recipes. Only one dessert recipe. Would not recommend. For others to purchase.

Porsche has many claims to uniqueness as a car maker. Here are a few of them:*Â Throughout its life its auto manufacturing has been sister to a powerful product-engineering business with customers in all parts of the world.*Â It has been a dedicated independent producer, in significant volume, of high-performance sports cars. In the 21st Century this image has been debased by its four-door adventures, but these too have sporting profiles.*Â Until it hit the business buffers in 2009, Porsche was owned and controlled by powerful families that traced their origins to one iconic pioneer. No other car maker of substance could make that claim.*Â Thanks to its steady production over the years of customer-friendly competition cars, Porsche can claim more victories and more championships than any other major marque.For this author, however, one of Porsche's most fascinating characteristics is its powerful genetic makeup. It has been my privilege and pleasure to follow--in real time--the evolution of Porsche cars from the beginnings of 1948 to the present day. Over these years the pure Porsche, in the person of the 356 as it morphed into the 911, has staunchly represented the most robust bloodline in the motor industry.Famously the 911 shrugged off all attempts to make it obsolete. In the late 1970s its sales refused to fall below the rate of 25 cars per day that then-chief Ernst Fuhrmann set as the minimum for production viability. When in 1981 new Porsche boss Peter Schutz asked, "What is the product we are making our money with?" he was told it wasn't the 928, whose volumes were too small. Neither was it the 924, which was made dealers happy but left little profit margin for Porsche. It was the long-neglected 911, which Schutz gave the kiss of life.Another crisis was surmounted in the early 1990s with the launch of the Type 993. With its predecessor the 964, said new chief engineer Ulrich Bez, the management board "had come to the conclusion that the 911 was at its end." But instead of obliging them with something completely new, Bez created a new 911 in the shape of the 993, the last of the air-cooled Porsches."This was a car to decide whether or not Porsche had a future," said later chief Wendelin Wiedeking. "That was a very decisive car for Porsche," added engineer Volker Berkefeld. "It had to be good. Thank God it was good!" In model year 1996, with the cancellation of the 968 and 928 and the Boxster not yet launched, the 993 was the only car that Porsche could offer its network and its customers. Produced on Monday, July 15th, 1996, Porsche's millionth car was a 911 Carrera from the 993 range. Â Many forecast disaster for the 911 Carrera's transition to water-cooled power with the new Type 996 of the 1998 model year. Surely this would be more effete, less charismatic. But Porsche's engineers confounded the critics, creating a new 9l1 that was a fabulous basis for the development that still continues.Â One man had been the talisman for the 911's development, indeed for the continuity of the Porsche bloodline from the very beginning. He of course was Ferry Porsche. Ferry was in rude good health at the launch of the Boxster, the car that harked back to his original roadster of 1948. He was more fragile when he turned 88 years of age in September of 1997, when the new 996-based 911 Carrera was displayed for the first time at the Frankfurt Show.Â On March 27, 1998 Ferry Porsche died. The man who had served for so many decades as Porsche's "ideal customer" was no more. He was no longer available to motivate his team, to provide the touchstone that would determine whether a new-car proposal lived or died. Though he later had regrets about moving upstairs from the management board when all family members withdrew from Porsche management in 1972, Ferry had done his job well. Subtly, his views reinforced by the deep respect he commanded throughout the company and the Porsche world, Ferry guided the evolution of the model that was at the heart of Porsche's powerful appeal.Â The contribution of Ferry Porsche notwithstanding, the durability of the 356/911 concept has been unique in an industry that prides itself on being forward-looking. No other car maker can claim anything comparable. Chevrolet's Corvette is still with us after more than a half-century, however with sharp changes in styling and engineering that have vitiated any genetic continuity. Ferrari has remained true to its high-performance principles but with widely disparate designs. Both Jaguar and Aston Martin have struggled in the 21st century to reanimate DNA from their successful pasts.Â Only Morgan can point to a consistency of design that's comparable to that of the 356/911, dating from the introduction of its first four-wheeled model at the end of 1935. Using engines made by major auto companies, Morgan survives as a niche producer at three-figure annual volumes. Exemplary though its continuity has been, Morgan can't be seen as a challenger to the potency of the Porsche DNA.Â What has been the secret of the species Porsche? What has given it such strong survivability? Indeed it has been adaptable as well, elements of its strain being incorporated in such sharply differing models as the Cayenne and Panamera, making them visibly and identifiably members of the extended Porsche family. In part we can credit the continuity of Porsche's styling chiefs, from Erwin Komenda and Butzi Porsche through Tony Lapine and Harm Lagaay, not to mention such key interpreters as Dick Soderberg, Wolfgang Möbius, Pinky Lai and Grant Larson.Â Yet these men and others had to have something to work with, some starting point that could be identified as the origin of the species Porsche. Divining that origin is the purpose of this book. We know what the first Porsches looked like, the 356 variants of 1948 that established the lineage. But why did they look the way they did? What underpinned their design? What are the roots of the DNA that caused the 356 to be born with a configuration that departed so radically from the sports-car status quo?Â I invite you to join me as we turn back the clock to the late 1930s and the 1940s when the Porsche sports-car DNA was created. That's how far back we need to go to grasp the influences, the ideas, the men and the machinery that made up the Type 356. Some of the saga will be familiar but much will be new even to the most seriously shriven Porsche fanatic. It begins before World War 2 when the Porsche men created the car the world knew as the Volkswagen. Crude and humble though it was, it gave them plenty of ideas.

One of the most informative and well written books on Porsche's history, design and engineering - be prepared though for a sizable increase in your thirst to drive one!

Like I really needed one more book on vintage Porsches - well, turns out, I did. This is a must have for anyone interested in the early days of Porsche production. The featured car (and front and back cover photos) is Jerry Seinfeld's who provided the foreword. This is a great gift for yourself and anyone on your holiday list who enjoys these cars. An instant classic.

Historical fiction for middle grades does a nice job of relating the voyage of Megellan and his crew.

This will always be one of my absolute favorite books. What an incredible story this is! It takes you on such an amazing journey into another time and place and into the mindset of one of the most incredible explorers. Loved every sentence! A must read for adventure and history lovers.

These talents help him once he is recruited as cabin boy, musician, and eventually ship artist on a voyage led by Magellan.I found this book suitable for older children and young adults. Though the reading level is 5th-8th grade, the material is often at an older level. I would lean towards grades 7-9 as the youngest readers for this book.

To the Edge of the World is a great read that really satysfied me. It is based on real life events, even though some of the characters fictional. It is a tale of courage, comradery, and adventure. I reccomend it to anyone who likes books about the sea and/or adventure.

Mary Baker Eddy (1821-1910) was an influential American author, teacher, and religious leader. I'm not a Christian Scientist, but my girlfriend is, and she sent me this book for my birthday. I was quite surprised to discover that in the last half of the book, I agreed with just about everything the author said. To think that she wrote this in 1875 is phenomenal. She obviously was way ahead of her time. Her thinking is quite advanced and very impressive.Mary Baker Eddy is known for founding the Christian Science Religion, whose main tenets inform us that sickness and pain are lies, that they don't exist, except as we have been brainwashed to believe they do. This is strong stuff.She also founded The Christian Science Monitor, an international daily newspaper still successful since the 1800's. The newspaper is a monument to her brilliance.Her writing is strong and complicated, and there have been testimonials that people were cured of their illness after reading this book. Amazing. If this is true, and you are sick, well, read the book! I mean, what have you got to lose. I haven't even finished it yet, I am so impressed with what I'm reading. I'm up to page 461. It's fascinating reading if you are ready for this kind of thinking. You have to definitely open your mind, throw away your previous ideas, and see if you can allow these ideas into your head.

I have read this book over and over and i am inspired and learn with every reading. I have found myself free from all sorts of ills from the inspiration which has brought me closer to the Scriptures and God. It is a book for thinkers not for those who let others, no matter how exalted a position they occupy, do their thinking for them.

While there are several publishers of Mary Baker Eddy's marvelous and life-changing book, Science and Health, on Amazon, there is only one authorized and guaranteed authentic edition. Unfortunately this is not it. While one has to commend anyone who wants to publish all or a portion of Mary Baker Eddy's writings, there is only one publisher who can be safely relied on to publish exactly the full, complete and accurate edition of what Mrs. Eddy wrote, and that is by the church she founded, The First Church of Christ, Scientist located in Boston, Massachusetts. Many, if not most or all of the other publishers who have Science and Health for sale on Amazon have omitted chapters and or pages of their choosing. This particular edition, for example, has only 524 pages. The original has 700 pages, all of which are essential to grasping the message Mrs. Eddy intended to convey. So no harm in purchasing this edition and supporting a deserving publisher, and there is no reason to disregard the other reviewers comments on this book. In fact many of the reviewers here may have read the original authorized version and commented here not realizing this was not the full and complete representation of the original. However, if you want to be certain you have the right one, you should be sure the edition displayed has an image of the book's cover, which should contain on the face the trademarked, circular "Cross and Crown" seal. Additionally, the title of the book should indicate that it is an "Authorized" edition. The text of the title should contain the word "Authorized." At the time of this review, the only Science and Health edition which currently meets that criteria is the paperback, blue "Sapphire Edition," which should come up simply by entering the search term "Science and Health." But you should do it. This book will change your life for the better - forever. It has mine.

I love the First Edition and my favorite is the 1886 Edition. Who doesn't love God's healing!

He makes grim pronouncements about other crime breakers and brandishes his satchel of diabolical torture tools who would even think about committing a serious crime in the future!. However, Grimshaw, when out of the public eye, is anything but uncaring. He metes out justice but knows justice is not always fair. He ends up in his cups because he is not at ease with his job. Grimshaw spends Hubert's last night with him at the prison. Hubert's last request prior to being executed for a murder he did not commit: A request that Nicholas Grimshaw take care of his "wee grand daughter who is homeless and alone". It turns out Desiree is not wee, not his granddaughter, and anything but sweet young thing! Beginning with The Reiver, a novella by Glynis Campbell, the four books in the series fit very nicely together but each story can stand on its own. Without entirely giving away the plot, you will want to know who was the killer of the person Hubert was punished for. Repeated attempts were made to get a special key. Did the key open a vault, some source of riches, or something else entirely? At least three attempts were made to kidnap Desiree from Hubert Grimshaw's home. Why? What role did the people at Torteval Hall -- Lady Philomena, Odger, Godfry, John, and a second John play in repeated attempts to do Lady Philomena's bidding? I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Desiree and Hubert made for very caring who were very careful when it came to someone claiming their heart.

Has a lot of things to learn about life and love and Desiree is just the thief to teach him!! This journey takes you into twists and turns and just about the time you just know how it's going to end Glynis Campbell throws you a curve you did not see coming!! Just one of the reasons she's one of my very favorite authors. If you haven't read any of her stories yet, this one will make you a fan of hers too!

Glynnis Campbells words are like magic! They gripped me from the start I was hooked from the first sentence. She tells the story in such a way that you just can't not want to know what is going to happen next. The characters were so different from any other story like this that is what makes hers so good!

Wonderfully written! The story is unusual in that the characters are not the norm and their circumstances are definitely not what should have drawn them together, but oh how wonderfully they complement each other. The underlying intrigue adds to the story. My only wish was that the end was a tad longer.

I won this book from the author. I was required to give a favorable review. This was a great story about a lawman and his honor to keep a promise to man he had to put to the gallows and a young woman who was being taken care of by the old man. He had a key that he didn't know was very import to very rich woman. This was a great story about how you can be doing wrong and turn around and do right. I enjoyed every word.

A fun, original story with a strong Hero & Heroine. Twists and turns along the way make the story more engrossing and entertaining. Our heroine, Desiree, is a thief with great sleight of hand and looks to enrapture her targets along the way. Our hero is the local, much-feared lawman, Nicholas Grimshaw. It's his job to uphold the law as well as collect taxes. How they come together and find their happily-ever-after is a cleverly written story with well-thought-out details. Enough details to really build the world as well as pull the reader in without slowing the pace of the book. No grammar errors or typos. A real treat of a well-written story.

This is a rich story with evolving main characters growing from cleverness to wisdom. The details create a word picture of life in a medieval Canterbury. There are instances of dry humor and clever conversation. One person is slowly unveiled as darkly evil, while official accused villagers are given opportunities to point to a better form of justice. Glynnis Campbell is a highly talented story teller!

Strangely weird, but captivating. I had to read the book through, could not just stop. I thank you for this opportunity.

As my daughter is nearing her eighth birthday in only a few more months, I'd been seeking age appropriate resources to help guide and grow her faith in the Lord. She's getting older and more childish things seem to be passing away in her life. She's beginning to ask a lot of questions and thinking about what her purpose in life could be.My search however was proving a bit difficult with most books and magazines being geared more toward older pre-teenagers. Things like boyfriends, cellphones, and fashion which most other devotions are filled with didn't really fit her criteria.However after I came across The Plans I Have For You Devotional and Journal set by ZonderKidz my search ended!The hardcover 160 page devotional is meant to be gone through over the span of 90 days. It's based upon the Bible verse Jeremiah 29:11 " For I know the plans I have for you,â€ declares the Lord, â€œplans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.". There are six sectors; I've Got Big Plans For You, I've Given You a Purpose, I Don't Do Small Things, There's Nothing You Can't Do, Find That One Thing, & What I Created You To Do. Each sector focuses on something different that all ties together beautifully.The illustrations throughout the book are awesome! The text and devotions give one something to think about. There is always a Bible verse for each day and questions to go along with each devotion if you pick up the corresponding journal. My daughter has seemed to enjoy this devotional and feels that it appeals perfectly to girls around her age. I personally think it's wonderful that it is not overwhelming to her. She'll pick it up all on her own and really contemplate and share her thoughts whether with me or in the journal. It's growth in her walk that I am so very proud of!This devotion overall guides the reader through their present each day and encourages them to look to the future in discovering God's purpose for their life. In turn, they will find peace, security, and the love and acceptance that we only can receive from the Lord. I must admit that it has been a long time since I have read the anthropological studies that Humphrey & Laidlaw contrast their approach with; but taking their claims at face value, I find their contention--that "to take a ritual stance" (both in religious ritual, or any other ritualized activity) entails a different form of acting and intending than any other human doing--to be quite thought-provoking (and well-argued). Their approach is at root as (if not more) phenomenological than "anthropological". [NB they do not use the term "archetypal" in a Jungian sense. I bought the book thinking that they were...but I was not unpleasantly surprised to find them going off in another direction!]

This is the catalogue for the current Morandi exhibition at the Met in NYC. It basically follows a strict chronology after two introductory essays, one attempting a reassessment of the artist's oeuvre in the light of the many studies that have been carried out in recent years and of his influence on contemporary art (no longer limited to abstraction)and the other dwelling on the visual sources that inspired the painter (CÃ©zanne obviously, but also the Douanier Rousseau, Corot, Chardin to name but a few). These two essays are particularly interesting in that they provide in-depth information on the technique and working process of the artist and also on the somewhat paradoxical recognition of Morandi as a great master in the 1950's, at a time when abstraction was the dominant trend.The book is then divided into five distinct periods, first displaying wonderful commented illustrations of the works pertaining to each period, and then followed by various essays (on the debatable influence of Piero della Francesca, on Morandi's etchings, on the critical reception and the market in Europe and the Americas, on debunking the myth of a reclused closed-off artist, on Morandi's famous saying that "nothing is more abstract than reality"). The book ends with a short text by Umberto Eco describing his discovery of Morandi's art, followed by transcripts of interviews of the artist.This is probably the best artbook I have ordered this year (and I have ordered many!). The text is riveting, the illustrations (more than a hundred still-lifes and a dozen landscapes, all in full color) could not be better and some close-ups even give you the impression of holding the actual painting in your own hands (when I go through my library of some 800 artbooks, I have to disagree with the other reviewer of this book: the illustrations are outstanding).Highly recommended.

Great images and a thorough exploration of his work.

Great book. Unusual as you can really see the surface textures in the paintings. As a painter I found it very helpful.

This is big, comprehensive book with a really satisfying number of pictures. Some show Morandi's work next to those by artists who influenced him, which is interesting. There are several long essays that most people will probably not get through. Worth the price anyhow.

I happen to have loved this artist's work for a long time and have collected many books about him. Thia is an excellent treatise which makes me even more excited to visit the Phillips Collection in the Spring (2009) to see more of his work.

This is undoubtedly the best review of Morandi and his work written in English. Spectacular reproductions of the most important museum show ever assembled on this artist. Outstanding commentary by the leading Morandi experts.

I bought the same book in Morandi's Museum in Bologna and the quality was perfect! So I decided to order another one here for my friend. Quality is not perfect but acceptable, colors are different. I suggest every fan of Giorgio Morandi to go to his museum in Bologna, because there is no book that can represent all fullness of color cominations of his original works.

I found this book to be very interesting. It is exactly what the title states and that means it is not for the abject beginner. There are seven sections which include 37 different short papers or essays. What is interesting is that in this, the third edition, the authors have included some web content that you have to download. For example I found that the articles on "Women Succeeding Globally", and"Why 360s Do not Work and How They Can" particularly interesting. And to conclude any time that I have an opportunity to read essays/ articles by Edgar H. Schein I feel enriched.

The book gives you an insight about the coaching experience for leadership in an complex environment. Ideal book to read

This is a decent read, but doesn't necessarily match up with Goldsmith's other works.

This is a must read. The style of the book with the case studies ensuring the ready not only knows and understands the content, but sees how it can be applied across sectors, if, for me the most useful element.
